The Lord Works in Mysterious Ways

Earlier today, I was electioneering against California's Proposition 8 in these parts. One of the people with whom I was electioneering asked me why I was doing this, so I told her the story of a man I knew in my childhood, a vestryman of my church and an attorney, who had nursed his partner as he died of AIDS while dealing with HIV infection himself. His union taught me that same sex partners could be "married" in the same way that my parents could be and such unions should be entitled to the same or similar rights. Just now, I was curious about where this man was now. After all, I had seen him in a video promoting a fundraiser for AIDS services back in high school. So I googled him and found that he had re-married in this state. And he's still working hard against AIDS both in himself and in the rest of the world.

So thank you, Mr. Milan, for being an inspiration for so many, I hope it brings you joy.
