The Latest Entry in Carioca Confessions Is Interesting

I'm especially intrigued by the note to Phil, which isn't too far from what I proposed after the House of Bishops finished their latest meeting. I'll, however, risk the lawyers if catholic unity is to be built on church-backed state-sponsored violence and gross distortion of the word of God (begone ye Westminster Confession!). In other words, I've read Nigeria's report on the Listening Process. We are not amused. A few other Provinces say little better. All involved are in our prayers.

Frankly, the Westminster Confession would be an upgrade from some of this mess. The problem really does revolve around what Frs. Alison and Hefling has said they do, what is the nature of the Fall and Original Sin and Commandments which determines if Scripture is a rulebook or "contains all things necessary for salvation" which are summed in our Creeds "as sufficient statement of faith (that is waht is necessary for salvation)" and necessitates further consideration on our part given Reason (Christ) in determining what is a mete and proper response on the part of particular persons.
