Credo in Uno Deo Meliore cum Mathematicis quam ego

I was at a party this evening, talking to someone about my work. In my business, cocktail party conversation from those outside the field usually begins, "Do you think there's life on Mars?" I answer, "We'll know in a hundred years." Softballs. Then I hear, "Do you believe God made the planets?" Very briefly surprised because of the setting, I reply, "Yeah, but really far back, about fourteen billion years ago, but I honestly don't understand how. I'm not good enough at math to understand the physics. I deal with simpler stuff."

The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament shows his handiwork. One day tells its tale to another, and one night imparts knowledge to another. Although they have no words or language, and their voices are not heard, their sound has gone out into all lands, and their message to the ends of the world. : Ps. 19:1-4.
